Old School Techno Lesson by Derrick May

For all of you that have missed the first wave of techno music, here's a short display what can be done on an analog mixer, without any software, effect processors and so on. Derrick May is one of the godfathers of Detroit techno that made a great influence on the scene with his early tracks (Strings Of Life, Nude Photo...). He is still active, producing and DJing, and it looks like he is not going to stop any time soon.

In my opinion, its a shame that most of younger DJs don't have this type of energy. It you are already playing minimalistic dance music, you should do something with that tracks and not just standing there waiting for the brake. Its even a lot easier to do that these days with all the technology you have, and with software that is doing beatmatching  instead of you.

I don't say that all DJs should trow away all of the technology they have, but use is to make sets interesting and energetic.
